What's so special about June 20th, anyway? Well, in 1863 West Virginia became the 35th state to join the United States on June 20th. It's Lionel Richie and Martin Landau's birthdays. It's also my childhood pet parrot's birthday. It's also the first day of summer. (Okay, the first day of summer is the 21st, but you see what I'm doing here).
Most importantly, June 20th is the day Steven Spielberg's Jaws was released in 1975.
The record-breaking, terrifying, misquoted film grossed $260 million at the domestic box office and $450 million worldwide, and established Spielberg as the creator of summer movie magic.
